OpenAI in Talks to Grant U.S. Government 5% Stake, Trump Administration Shows Support

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is reportedly in early-stage discussions with the Trump administration about the U.S. acquiring a 5 percent stake in the company. Altman has argued that giving the public a financial stake is the best way to share the benefits of AI.

President Donald Trump supports the idea, and his administration has also approached Google and Meta about similar arrangements.
