OpenAI Unveils First Branded Hardware: A $230 RGB Keyboard for AI Agent Monitoring

OpenAI has released its first branded hardware device, the Codex Micro, a $230 mini-keyboard with RGB-lit keys designed to monitor and interact with multiple Codex agents. Developed in a limited collaboration with Work Louder, the keyboard features six frosted keys that change color to indicate thread status—white for idle, blue for thinking, green for complete, amber for needing feedback, and red for errors.

Tapping a lit key brings up the relevant Codex window on-screen. The launch comes amid ongoing rumors of OpenAI developing a personalized smart speaker.
