Oracle reduced its workforce by 21,000 employees over the past year, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. The company reported 141,000 full-time workers as of May 31, down from 162,000 a year earlier—a 12.9 percent decline.
The filing explicitly states that the adoption and deployment of AI technologies contributed to the layoffs, which followed earlier reports of mass job cuts in March. The reductions help Oracle finance its debt-fueled investments in artificial intelligence.
