The US Department of Defense has adopted generative AI tools to write the hundreds of reports required annually by Congress. Pentagon Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael said the AI can draft a report in five hours, a task that would normally take 200 hours of staffing time.
The department’s GenAI.mil platform, which uses Google Cloud’s Gemini for Government, has been available to all six military branches since December 2025. Michael highlighted the practice during a Hudson Institute event in Washington, DC, on June 12.
