The U.S. Department of Defense has adopted generative AI tools to produce hundreds of congressionally mandated reports, with Pentagon Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael touting the time savings at a Hudson Institute event.
Starting in December 2025, the Pentagon made AI tools like Google Cloud's Gemini available to all military branches via its GenAI.mil platform. Michael stated that the AI can draft a report in about five hours, a task that would otherwise require 200 hours of staffing time.
