Pentagon Uses AI to Draft Congressional Reports, Cutting Work from 200 Hours to Five

The U.S. Department of Defense is using generative AI tools to write hundreds of reports required annually by Congress. Pentagon Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael highlighted this shortcut at a Hudson Institute event, noting that AI can complete a report in five hours that would otherwise take 200 hours of staffing time.

The AI platform, GenAI.mil, which includes Google Cloud’s Gemini, has been available to all six military branches since December 2025.

Autonomous Firefighting Drones Tested as Wildfire Season Extends Year-Round in US
