Pentagon Uses AI to Draft Congressionally Mandated Reports, Cutting 200 Hours of Work to Five

The Pentagon has adopted generative AI tools, specifically Google Cloud’s Gemini for Government, to draft reports required by Congress, according to Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael. Speaking at a Hudson Institute event on June 12, Michael said the AI reduces a task that normally takes 200 hours of staffing time to just five hours. The tools have been available to all six military branches since December 2025 through the department’s GenAI.mil platform.
