Pentagon Uses AI to Draft Reports Required by Congress

The Department of Defense has begun using generative AI tools to write reports mandated by Congress, cutting the time needed from 200 hours to just five. Pentagon Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael touted the approach during a Hudson Institute event, describing how AI drafts reports that would otherwise consume significant staffing resources. The AI platform, GenAI.mil, which includes Google Cloud's Gemini for Government, has been available to all six military branches since December 2025.
