Pokémon UNITE will end its online service on March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC. The shutdown covers Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. Until then, the game will remain available, with a farewell event and a Library feature scheduled for November. Library is intended to preserve access to selected collections and records after the servers close.

For players, the immediate practical question is how to retain access to that archive. Keeping the app installed is not enough: the necessary data must be downloaded before service ends. Here is the confirmed schedule, what changes for purchases, and where the publisher’s promises stop.

The dates that matter

October 27, 2026, at 05:00 UTC: sales of Aeos gems, new UNITE Club memberships and automatic membership renewals stopped.November 12, 2026, at 04:00 UTC: the farewell event and Library update are scheduled to arrive.December 5, 2026: qualifying tournaments for Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo are scheduled to begin.March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC: online service ends and the advance Library download deadline expires.

The official news card displays October 26, while the announcement’s main text refers to October 27 as “today.” We therefore use the explicit dates and times of the actions themselves rather than treating the card date as an unambiguous publication timestamp.

What happens to gems and memberships

Players can spend Aeos gems they already hold until service ends. The announcement does not promise that a remaining balance can be used for purchases after the shutdown: the spending window is explicitly tied to the game’s remaining service period.

Existing UNITE Club members retain their benefits until their current membership period expires. That is not a promise to extend every subscription until March. Stopping automatic renewal and reaching the end of an already paid period are separate events.

The checked announcements do not set out a general refund programme for previous purchases. There is no basis for promising compensation or calculating an assumed refund. Players with a particular payment problem should contact official support about their own circumstances. The absence of a general announcement should not be presented as a ruling on every individual case.

The farewell event and the Library

November’s update will introduce a Unite Coin Exchange, missions and login bonuses. Special coins can be exchanged for previously available items, including Unite licenses and Holowear. That provides an announced opportunity to expand a collection before the end, but it is not a promise that every player will automatically receive every item in the game.

Library is designed to display acquired items and achievements. Planned components include collection viewing, Trainer customisation and commemorative snapshots, tournament participation records and the Practice Area.

The practice component matters: players will be able to view Pokémon moves and Holowear effects after service ends. Normal online login and battles will no longer be available.

The developers have not announced a full offline replacement for matches.

Battle items, held items and boost emblems will be view-only in Library. The developers specifically recommend finishing held-item upgrades and boost-emblem merges before service ends; Library should not be treated as a way to continue that progression later.

How to prepare without unnecessary risk

Once the update arrives, players need to complete Library’s initial data download. The developers say it takes place during normal play or when first accessing the feature. Items and records acquired after that first download will subsequently be added automatically.

Our practical recommendation is not to leave the check until the service’s final hours. Open Library in advance on the device you expect to keep using and make sure its required data has downloaded. This is an editorial risk-reduction recommendation, not an additional requirement imposed by the publisher.

There is an important device limitation: Library data generally cannot be transferred when changing devices. Deleted or otherwise lost data may be unrecoverable after shutdown, and Library support will no longer be available.

Reinstalling the app or replacing a phone should therefore not be treated as a guaranteed way to restore the collection through an account. The publisher has not documented a universal backup procedure, and we are not inventing one.

What remains unknown

The announcements do not state a reason for ending service. They do not establish claims about financial performance, audience size or the future of the development team. The continued Aeos Crown tournament schedule also does not reverse the announced service deadline.

For current players, the useful course is to follow the official calendar: check the remaining paid membership period, watch for November’s update and prepare Library before the cutoff. It should retain part of a player’s personal Pokémon UNITE history, but it will not keep the online game running.
