San Francisco Demands Apple and Google Remove AI-Powered 'Nudify' Apps from Stores

San Francisco Attorney General David Chiu sent cease-and-desist letters this week ordering Apple and Google to remove 13 AI-powered nudification apps from their app stores. These apps allow users to easily transform ordinary photos into explicit deepfake images by removing clothing or swapping faces onto nude bodies. Chiu warned that hosting the apps violates California laws that prohibit providing supporting services for creating deepfake pornography.
