San Francisco Orders Apple and Google to Remove ‘Nudify’ Apps from App Stores

San Francisco Attorney General David Chiu has sent cease-and-desist letters to Apple and Google, demanding the removal of 13 so-called nudification apps from their app stores. These AI-powered tools enable users to easily create explicit deepfake images by removing clothing, altering features, or swapping faces onto naked bodies.

Chiu’s letter warns that hosting these apps violates California laws that prohibit providing supporting services for deepfake pornography. The action comes amid growing concerns over the misuse of AI to generate non-consensual intimate images.

Autonomous Firefighting Drones Tested as Wildfire Season Extends Year-Round in US
