South Korea's government and top technology companies are committing $1 trillion to flagship projects aimed at boosting global memory chip supply, building new AI data centers, and commercializing humanoid robots by 2028. The initiative follows record profits for Samsung and SK Hynix driven by AI industry demand, which has also caused memory chip shortages and higher consumer electronics prices.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor is racing to mass-produce humanoid robots from its subsidiary Boston Dynamics for factory work. President Lee Jae Myung stressed the need to secure AI core elements faster than other countries.
