South Korea Invests $1 Trillion in Memory Chips, AI Data Centers, and Humanoid Robots

South Korea’s government and leading tech firms are committing $1 trillion to major projects aimed at boosting global memory chip production, building AI data centers, and deploying humanoid robots commercially by 2028. The initiative follows record profits at Samsung and SK Hynix driven by AI demand, which has also caused memory chip shortages and higher consumer electronics prices.

Hyundai Motor Company is meanwhile accelerating mass production of humanoid robots from its subsidiary Boston Dynamics to take over labor-intensive tasks in automotive factories. President Lee Jae Myung stated that semiconductors, physical AI, and AI data centers are the triple axis for a great leap forward.

Autonomous Firefighting Drones Tested as Wildfire Season Extends Year-Round in US

Firefighting drones capable of spraying water and fire retardant are being tested in California and Alaska as climate change makes wildfire season a near-year-round threat across much of the United States.
