South Korea's government and top tech companies are committing $1 trillion to megaprojects aimed at expanding memory chip production, building AI data centers, and deploying humanoid robots by 2028. The investment follows record profits at Samsung and SK Hynix driven by AI demand, which has also led to memory chip shortages and higher consumer electronics prices.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor is accelerating mass production of humanoid robots from its subsidiary Boston Dynamics for use in automotive factories and other workplaces. President Lee Jae Myung stated that semiconductors, physical AI, and AI data centers are the core elements needed for the country's technological leap.
