South Korea's government and major tech firms, including Samsung and SK Hynix, are investing $1 trillion in flagship projects to increase memory chip production, build AI data centers, and commercialize humanoid robots by 2028. The investment comes amid surging AI-driven demand for memory chips, which has driven record profits and supply shortages affecting consumer electronics.
Hyundai Motor is also racing to mass-produce humanoid robots from its subsidiary Boston Dynamics for factory use. President Lee Jae Myung stated that semiconductors, physical AI, and AI data centers are the core pillars for national advancement.
