SpaceX announced today it will acquire AI coding platform Cursor for $60 billion in an all-stock transaction, with the deal expected to close in the third quarter. The acquisition comes two days after SpaceX's unprecedented initial public offering and a few months after the merger of SpaceX and xAI, which triggered a significant restructuring of xAI. Cursor, a branch of Visual Studio Code with extensive AI integration, was one of the first tools to fully incorporate large language model features into an IDE, though larger competitors have since matched those capabilities.
