The Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for connecting AI systems to external tools and data, received its most significant update since its debut. The protocol core is now stateless, meaning requests no longer depend on a session tied to a specific server instance.
This change addresses long-standing scalability issues that have hindered enterprise adoption. The announcement came from lead maintainers David Soria Parra and Den Delimarsky, both of Anthropic.
