President Trump's plan to rapidly redesign all 27,000 .gov websites using AI, spearheaded by the National Design Studio (NDS), has produced poor results. Established by executive order in August 2025, the NDS was tasked with updating the federal design system within three years.

The effort was hindered by DOGE's prior cuts to agencies like the 18F technology unit and the US Digital Service. Consequently, the initiative has generated AI-designed websites that are widely considered unusable and unattractive.

Autonomous Firefighting Drones Tested as Wildfire Season Extends Year-Round in US
