U.S. Lifts Export Restrictions on Anthropic's Claude AI Models After Security Review

The United States has removed export controls on Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models, about three weeks after the Trump administration flagged them as national security risks. As of now, Fable 5 is available globally, and U.S.

organizations have had access to Mythos 5 restored since June 26. Anthropic is collaborating with the government to extend Mythos access through the Glasswing program, which allows cybersecurity researchers at trusted companies to use the model for defensive purposes.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed in a letter that Anthropic no longer needs an export license for these models, acknowledging the company addressed the identified risks in coordination with the U.S. government.
