US Army Exhausts Year's Supply of AI Tokens After Promising Unlimited Access

The U.S. Army's Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) was informed via email that its AI tokens had been exhausted, requiring a return to usage limits just weeks after the Army CIO promised unlimited tokens in May 2026.

This came shortly after the Department of Defense boasted that nearly half of its workforce was using AI. The Army relies on the Ask Sage platform, which runs multiple large language models, and an anonymous employee stated that the entire service burned through its annual token allocation in a single month.
