US Bans Foreign-Made Robots, Citing National Security Risks

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission has banned foreign-made robots, including Chinese humanoid and four-legged robots, as well as robot vacuum cleaners, due to cybersecurity vulnerabilities.

The ban, added to the FCC's Covered List, follows a determination by an executive branch interagency body convened by the White House that these devices pose an unacceptable risk to national security and public safety. The FCC was required to follow the direction of a qualifying national security authority to implement the prohibition.
