The US military used explosive-laden drone boats in combat for the first time, attacking an Iranian midget submarine and naval port at Bandar Abbas on July 12. Video footage shows three “one-way attack surface drones” making a low-speed, uncontested approach before detonating.

US Central Command confirmed the strikes marked the first operational use of sea drones by American forces. The targets included a Ghadir-class midget submarine suspended from a gantry and a ship maintenance facility.
