US Lifts Export Restrictions on Anthropic's Claude AI Models After Security Review

The United States has lifted export controls on Anthropic's newest Claude AI models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5, approximately three weeks after the Trump administration deemed them national security risks. Fable 5 is now available globally, and US organizations have regained access to Mythos 5 since June 26.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed that Anthropic no longer needs an export license for these models, acknowledging the company's efforts to address security concerns in coordination with the government. Anthropic is also working to expand access to Mythos through the Glasswing program, which provides cybersecurity researchers at trusted organizations with defensive use of the model.
