US military uses explosive drone boats in combat for first time

For the first time, the US military deployed explosive-laden drone boats in combat, attacking an Iranian midget submarine and naval port. The three kamikaze sea drones made a low-speed, uncontested approach before detonating at Iran's Bandar Abbas Naval Base on July 12.

US Central Command confirmed this was the first use of sea drones in combat operations by American forces. The target included a Ghadir-class midget submarine suspended from a gantry.
