Who Are the 'Sea People' in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey?

Throughout Christopher Nolan's epic film The Odyssey, Odysseus faces numerous threats, from the towering Cyclops to the wrathful god Poseidon. The most ominous danger, however, is the mysterious 'Sea People' or 'People from the Sea.' This force is repeatedly mentioned in the film as a looming threat to Ithaca and its neighboring regions in the Mediterranean.
