xAI fights Grok CSAM lawsuits with legal offensive against users and Minnesota

Elon Musk's xAI is facing legal pressure over Grok's generation of child sexual abuse material, with arrests of users and lawsuits from children prompting demands for safety changes. In response, xAI has begun suing users accused of bypassing safeguards to create AI CSAM.

This week, xAI filed a complaint against Minnesota, arguing that the state's ban on nudification technology would unfairly hold the company liable for user-generated harmful outputs. Citing its own lawsuit against a Grok user, xAI claims it is already taking action against bad actors and should receive safe harbor.
