xAI Sues First User Accused of Using Grok to Generate Child Sexual Abuse Material

Facing mounting pressure over Grok's ability to generate non-consensual sexualized images, xAI filed a lawsuit against Terry Wayne Harwood, the first user the company has accused of using its chatbot to create illegal content. Harwood was arrested earlier this year on charges of possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), according to the South Carolina attorney’s office. xAI alleges that it assisted in the arrest after discovering that Harwood used two xAI accounts over several months to undress or “nudify” non-sexual images of multiple victims, including a young girl who appeared to be as young as 10.
