xAI sues users and Minnesota in bid to escape liability over Grok CSAM

Elon Musk’s xAI is facing legal pressure over Grok’s generation of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), including lawsuits from children and arrests of users. In response, xAI has begun suing users who allegedly bypass safeguards to create AI CSAM.

It has also filed a new complaint against Minnesota, arguing that its lawsuit against a Grok user shows xAI is already policing harmful outputs and that Grok should be shielded from a state ban on nudification technology. xAI claims the state’s enforcement would make it liable for harmful and non-consensual sexualized images.
