Funcom has confirmed two different prospects for PS5 owners: Aloft’s console debut and Conan Exiles’ transition to Enhanced. Both are planned for early 2027, without exact dates. The announcement was published on October 27. The important question is not just better graphics: established Conan players also need to understand what happens to their purchases and saves.
Aloft: starting without an older console version to leave behind
Aloft on PS5 is intended to include its 1.0 content and earlier PC Early Access updates. It is a cooperative survival game set among floating islands, with the ability to turn an island into a skyship. The console release is also tied to the PC game leaving Early Access.
For a newcomer, that is a different proposition from buying a game at the beginning of its development. The useful question is whether the central routine of exploration and making a home appeals to you, rather than how many updates appear in the announcement. A 1.0 label does not itself guarantee a bug-free experience or perfectly adapted controls.
Before deciding, it makes sense to look for coverage of the actual console build. PC footage can demonstrate the premise and atmosphere, but cannot settle every question about interface readability on a television or construction with a controller. Nor should specifications or behaviour from a PC build automatically be treated as promises for PS5.
Conan: a free upgrade still involves a transition
Existing Conan Exiles owners on PlayStation are promised free access to Enhanced on PS5. Funcom has also confirmed Xbox Series X|S. Purchases carry forward; Isle of Siptah remains a separate expansion. Announced changes include graphics, interface and performance improvements.
The FAQ adds important qualifications: Siptah bases cannot be preserved, single-player saves move forward only, and Legacy loses official servers and the Bazaar. Cross-play is promised shortly after launch, not necessarily on day one. Those limitations matter more than a general assurance that purchased content transfers.
In practice, separate three questions: ownership of the game, access to paid items and the state of a particular world. Confirmation about one does not automatically establish the others. Knowing that your DLC remains available is therefore not a substitute for checking the rules that apply to your server or save.
Preparing without unnecessary risk
Start by identifying how you play: alone, on an official server or on a privately hosted world. If other people share that world, agree on the transition before anyone assumes the group is ready. Planning entirely around the absence of an upgrade fee overlooks the value of the time already invested.
Before loading an important save in a different version, check whether your console and storage arrangement permit an independent backup. Do not assume ordinary cloud synchronisation automatically preserves an older copy that you can restore. If the procedure is unclear, waiting for specific migration instructions is more sensible than experimenting with your main world.
What remains unsettled
The checked announcements do not provide an exact release calendar, final frame-rate targets or a complete step-by-step migration guide. We are not filling those gaps with assumptions. For multiplayer, the final compatibility arrangements will also need checking: a cross-play promise is not automatically a promise that progress can move freely between every platform.
Our assessment
Aloft should primarily be judged as a new console game. Conan Enhanced must also be judged as a transition for an existing community. The first raises questions about the quality of the port; the second adds questions about protecting a world and the time spent building it. Free access is welcome, but it is not a replacement for reading the migration rules carefully.
