Anthropic Pauses Token-Based Billing for Claude Agent SDK

Anthropic has temporarily suspended a planned billing change for its Claude Agent SDK that would have significantly raised costs for heavy users. The change, announced last month, would have charged SDK usage at standard API rates rather than allowing it to draw from the generous usage caps included in Claude subscriptions. The reversal lets users continue relying on their existing subscription limits, which analysts say can provide far more value than equivalent API spending.
