Anthropic’s Model Hardware Standard lets AI agents control physical devices

Anthropic has introduced the Model Hardware Standard (MHS), a set of standardized drivers designed to let AI agents control physical hardware. The research preview is aimed at scientists, helping them link lab devices without custom integrations.

Anthropic says MHS provides a common interface for data sharing, potentially cutting experimental setup time from weeks or months to hours or minutes. The effort was inspired by a neuroscientist’s work coordinating complex equipment at HHMI Janelia.
