Energy IPOs Reach Highest Level Since Dotcom Bubble as AI Data Center Demand Drives Investor Interest

Energy companies are raising money through initial public offerings at the fastest pace this century, fueled by investors seeking new ways to bet on the booming demand for power-hungry AI data centers. IPOs for energy firms raised $12.6 billion in the first half of this year, marking the highest half-year level since the dotcom bubble peak in late 1999 and the highest first-half figure on record.

That total already far exceeds the $4.3 billion raised in all of 2025. The fundraising surge reflects how access to vast amounts of energy has become a critical bottleneck in the multi-trillion-dollar AI investment boom.
