AI Coding Agents Autonomously Direct Robots to Install GPUs and Cut Zip Ties

Researchers at NVIDIA's GEAR lab, in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University and UC Berkeley, developed a new agent harness framework called ENPIRE. This framework enables AI coding agents to autonomously plan and execute training regimens for robotic arms.

The agents successfully taught robots to perform tasks such as cutting zip ties and inserting GPUs into motherboard sockets. NVIDIA's Jim Fan noted that the lab now self-improves overnight, with the team reviewing results each morning.
