Apple refreshes Mac mini and Mac Studio with new chips built for local AI workloads

Apple's new Mac mini and Mac Studio are designed to appeal to developers and researchers working with AI locally. The desktops have been popular for AI inference and software development due to their unified memory architecture and fast CPUs and GPUs. Apple announced refreshed versions of both computers along with two new chips: the M6, the first 2nm chip in the Mac M-series, and the M5 Ultra, now the most powerful chip in the lineup for most tasks, especially AI workloads.
