As Demand for Meta AI Glasses Explodes, Concerns Over Covert Recording Grow

It is becoming harder to tell if someone nearby is wearing Meta AI glasses, and as millions buy smart glasses each year, the risk of being secretly recorded in public is growing. Meta's AI glasses are the most popular of their kind, prompting schools, courts, restaurants, and entertainment venues to ban them.

Even DEF CON 2026 banned all smart glasses, telling attendees with prescription pairs to bring non-violating eyewear. Detection apps remain imperfect, so these devices may become even harder to spot.
