As Meta AI Glasses Grow More Popular, Covert Recording Becomes Harder to Detect

With millions of people adopting smart glasses each year, the likelihood of being secretly recorded in public is rising. Meta's AI glasses are the most popular, and their growing presence has prompted schools, courts, restaurants, and entertainment venues to ban them.

Even DEF CON 2026 banned all smart glasses, telling attendees with prescription pairs to bring non-violating eyewear. The spread of these devices makes it increasingly difficult to know when someone nearby is recording.
