Google launches Gemini 3.5 Transcribe, a faster AI speech-to-text model

Google has introduced Gemini 3.5 Transcribe, a new AI model designed to convert speech into polished text by removing filler words and false starts. It already powers the Gboard Rambler feature on the Pixel 11 and will soon roll out across more of Google's ecosystem.

The company says the model is about 70 percent faster than its previous voice-to-text engine, Chirp 3, with a live-speech error rate of 5.5 percent compared to Chirp 3's 7.32 percent. While the accuracy improvement is modest, the speed boost and cleaner output aim to make voice input less tedious.
