Google's Acquisition of Spirit Airlines Workforce Data Raises Flight Attendant Concerns

Google won an auction to acquire a large dataset from Spirit Airlines, covering nearly all of the airline's employment and workplace records but excluding personal and customer information. To prevent identification of individuals, Google agreed to have a court-appointed ombudsman oversee the removal of personally identifying information before the data is transferred. The company also committed to keeping the data de-identified, never attempting to re-identify it, and requiring any third parties given access to abide by the same terms.
