Google Wins Auction to Acquire Spirit Airlines Employment Data

Google has won an auction to acquire a large set of Spirit Airlines data, covering the airline's employment and workplace records rather than customer or personal information. To protect privacy, a court-appointed ombudsman will oversee the removal of personally identifying information before the data is transferred.

Google is required to keep the data de-identified and must not attempt to re-identify it. Any third party granted access through Google would be subject to the same restrictions.
