At the second World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, humanoid robots sprinted faster than Usain Bolt's 100-meter record, but many couldn't stop in time, crashing into barriers, falling, or breaking apart in sparks and flames. The August 22–26 event featured races, kung fu, dancing, kickboxing, soccer, and table tennis.
It also included everyday chores like washing and hanging laundry, where robots lagged far behind typical human working speeds. Organizers, including Chinese state media and Beijing's city government, aimed to showcase the commercial potential of humanoid robots as China's robotics industry rapidly advances.
