Meta Explored Cutting Up to 60% of Some Teams in AI-Native Overhaul, Reuters Reports

Meta earlier this year considered reducing headcount in some teams by as much as 60 percent as part of a plan to become “AI native,” according to Reuters. The proposal, reportedly codenamed Project OT, included two rounds of layoffs, though Meta did not confirm which teams would be affected.

The company acknowledged that the plan explored such scenarios but did not say whether it was fully implemented. The report underscores broader organizational challenges in deciding when AI should replace human workers.
