Notion announced it will shut down Notion Mail on September 22, ending the email client it built with the team from the Skiff acquisition. The company had acquired encrypted email and productivity startup Skiff in February 2024, shut down Skiff's email service within a year, and launched Notion Mail as a Gmail client in April 2025.
In an X post, Notion explained that most users no longer use email clients and instead rely on AI agents to manage their correspondence. The decision effectively ends the remaining email functionality inherited from the Skiff acquisition.
