Nvidia Manager Among Nine Indicted in Taiwan Over Alleged AI Server Smuggling to China

Taiwan has indicted nine people, reportedly including a senior Nvidia manager and two Supermicro employees, for allegedly forging documents to cover illegal exports of high-end AI servers to China in violation of US export controls. Prosecutors in Keelung did not release names but said the suspects face charges of breach of trust and document forgery, while one related suspect remains at large over the alleged siphoning of funds from a distributor involved in the scheme. The case follows US restrictions requiring licenses for semiconductor exports to China since 2022, and a separate US arrest of Supermicro co-founder Wally Liaw in March over claims that he funneled $2.5 billion in restricted AI servers to China.
