Nvidia Senior Manager Indicted in Taiwan AI Server Smuggling Case

Taiwan has indicted nine people, reportedly including a senior Nvidia manager and two Supermicro employees, for allegedly forging documents to conceal illegal exports of high-end AI servers to China in violation of US export controls. Prosecutors in Keelung announced charges of breach of trust and document forgery but did not release names, and one suspect remains at large in a related case involving the siphoning of funds from a distributor.

The indictments follow US restrictions on semiconductor exports to China since 2022 and the March arrest of Supermicro co-founder Wally Liaw, accused of funneling $2.5 billion in restricted AI servers to China since 2024. Taiwan launched a separate probe into the scheme after Liaw's arrest.
