San Francisco Attorney General David Chiu sent cease-and-desist letters to Apple and Google, demanding the removal of 13 nudification apps from their app stores. These apps use AI to easily transform ordinary photos into explicit deepfake images, allowing bad actors to remove clothing or swap faces. Chiu warned that hosting the apps violates California laws that prohibit services supporting deepfake pornography.
