SpaceX Acquires AI Coding Tool Cursor for $60 Billion in All-Stock Deal

SpaceX has announced it will acquire the AI-powered coding platform Cursor for $60 billion in an all-stock transaction, with the deal expected to close in the third quarter. The acquisition comes just two days after SpaceX’s landmark IPO and follows the earlier merger of SpaceX with xAI, which triggered a major restructuring of that company. Cursor, a fork of Visual Studio Code with deep large language model integration, was among the first tools to embed such AI features into an IDE, though larger competitors have since introduced similar capabilities.
