Taiwan Indicts Nine, Including Nvidia Manager and Supermicro Staff, in Alleged AI Server Smuggling to China

Taiwanese prosecutors have indicted nine people, reportedly including an Nvidia senior manager and two Supermicro employees based in Taiwan, for allegedly forging documents to conceal illegal exports of high-end AI servers to China. The Keelung prosecutors did not name the suspects but said they face charges of breach of trust and document forgery, while one related suspect remains at large over siphoning funds from a distributor. The case follows US export controls requiring licenses for semiconductor shipments to China since 2022 and a separate US arrest of Supermicro co-founder Wally Liaw in March on allegations of funneling $2.5 billion in restricted AI servers to China since 2024.
