xAI Sues First User for Using Grok to Generate Child Sexual Abuse Imagery

Under growing pressure to acknowledge that its Grok chatbot can be used to create non-consensual sexualized images of adults and minors, xAI has filed a lawsuit against Terry Wayne Harwood, the first user accused of generating such content with the tool. Harwood was arrested earlier this year on charges of possessing and distributing child sexual abuse materials (CSAM). xAI stated that it helped law enforcement in the arrest after discovering that Harwood used two xAI accounts to “nudify” non-sexual images of multiple victims, including a young girl who appeared to be about 10 years old.
